Horton Autosport takes a break to celebrate team principal, John Horton’s birthday.

After a very tough race weekend in Toronto where team Horton Autosport managed another top five finish despite difficult circumstances, it was time for a much-deserved break.  Since we didn’t have an opportunity in Toronto to celebrate John’s birthday the way we wanted, we decided to go all out the following weekend and take a trip to Disneyland in gorgeous Southern California.

We had a great group for a Disney adventure.  John’s brother, Mark and his wife Christie joined us with their two girls Carlie and Bailie.  Christie’s brother Jason also joined us which was great for the girls because they love using Uncle Jason as a jungle gym.

The weather was perfect, right out of a Disney commercial.  We hit all the rides, including my favorite, teacups.  I ate a churro at every opportunity and even got the quintessential Dole pineapple whip at the tiki room.  We had  a birthday dinner at Disney’s Club 33 where John was treated with a “Mickey Moose” dessert and special guests Mickey and Pluto stopped by to say “happy birthday”.  Of course the girls enjoyed their visit more than John.

I always love visiting Disneyland.  Having John’s nieces there was a real treat because I got to see the magic of Disney through the eyes of a kid.  I shared a teacup ride with the girls and Balie gave me a driving lesson in an Autopia car.  The girls even got their driver’s licenses after they successfully navigated the Autopia course.

I’m back in New York now, the concrete jungle filling up the view out of my office window, and I’m already thinking about my next trip to sunny Southern California and Disneyland.
